So about a week ago, some well educated person broke my driver side mirror. Not the entire mirror, just the plastic casing for it. I wont get into the entire story as to why, but, let's just say that the driver of the opposing car couldnt handle his loss. I called up the dalership and told them I needed to replace the part. They searched around, found it, charged me $100 for it. I went in today to pick it up. As I was placing it back on. I noticed it snapped right into place. So the first thing that came to my mind was, "If this snaps into place this easy. I could probably snap it back out, without damaging it at all. Maybe do a Carbon Fiber wrap on it." Problem is. I'm no Carbon Fiber Technician. Knowing me, I'd go pick up some Carbon Fiber vinyl and do it that way. If I tried to do real carbon fiber myself.. I'd probably look like a 4 year old and his first discovery of elmers glue. So there's an idea, tossed into the open for you all. I know there are a few Carbon Fiber techs that visit this board. Plus a few people who've worked with Vinyl. I'm sure you all could come up with something nice.
I planned on doing my mirrors in a c/f overlay. The entire mirror though. Could you post a pic of exactly what you are talking about.
i will make more in a bit. when I have them done I will let you know. If you still want one at that time then no prob.
you know you can count on me bro,but wtf happened all of the sudden only 68 post, donn't tell me you bought the sti and now you are a subbi kid, saludos hermano
Wel. I went out today to try and take apart my Mirror in hopes that I could post some pics. however, I didn't have much luck. It seems that once it's set into place. It's rather hard to take it out without breaking it off. I'm stubborn as hell though. Round 2 this weekend.
wow the aussie sites have some pretty nice things.. i wonder what the rear air dam is... need a closer pic
Haven't been on in a while and just posted somewhere else that I was getting the carbon-fibre look mirror covers this Friday. They are AUD$137.50 here, I'll see if I can get them cheaper though
$137 each or for the pair? I wanted to mess with my mirrors this weekend. Instead, I drank more then my body weight in beer. So I spent most of it recovering.
Some of those accessories are pretty hot, I'm feeling the c/f look scuff plates, only ones I've ever seen like that. And I also saw mentionings of rain sensing wipers and a bunch of other cool stuff. Why does USDM always get the shaft? So not cool.
