I recently went to the mitsubishi dealership and asked about getting an exhaust system, because I was going to get one later that day. They told me that it will void the warranty, no and's if's or buts about it. They also said that an intake will void it as well. I brought up the magneson moss act, and they didn't go for it. I got a 10yr 100,000 mile warranty that i don't want to lose. So, am i s**t out of luck? I don't know what to do. Need some advice, something to say to Mitsu, I don't want to have it stock, but i don't want to lose the warranty. Any advise?

by law only way they can void your warrenty is if the modification you added causes the damage. Now, if you use the search button youll find a lot of topics about warrenty questions just like yours already, even links to the government law that you can show them.

An btw isnt it 5 year 100k? Unless you bought 5years more an no mile addons?

just make sure if you have to take it in the dealer you know you can switch out the aftermarket parts easily and put in the stock.

if u have an exhaust and ur engine blows up u will be covered.. they have to prove that the modification u did caused the part to fail.

^ yeah...you didn't know that? its a requirement before going to work. I think its the second day of orientation. becoming a dumbass is day three...lol...

most everyone on this forum says that the only way anything voids anything is if its directly related to the mod, but if you're worried about it find a way around it or become cool with someone who can work on cars.

And even if there's a remote chance whatever mod did directly cause the problem, as if they're going to put in the time, effort, money, etc, to prove that it was the cause.

Maybe if they do prove its your fault they make you pay for all that time an effort? They always have things like this up their sleves to throw at you.

All i know is, having more gasses come out of your car will never do any damage, now things coming in is different :)

So i say just mod it, they cant void shit

My dealer told me the same about the intake, in the end the guy just told me to take it off before I go to the dealer for services, basically if theyy dont see it, they cant prove it.

As far as exhaust system.. what do you mean by exhaust system? ie. Replace the whole thing? or Just put a different muffler on it? Cuase if you replace the whole thing, then your messing with the emission parts, but if your just popping on a axel back, then they cant touch you for that.

Put it this way, you back out of your drive way and run into a piece of metal rebarb and puncture your muffler... you have to get it replaced .. right?? ;)

One of the dealers out here will install the RRM intake, exhaust and pulley, and will warranty it aswell. I will be going that route and paying the extra $100 to save my warranty.

well, for the exhaust i wanted a cat back, but i thought about the muffler as well, and they said they would have to remove my resignators to get any sound out of a muffler. Removing the resignators will mess with the o2 sensor.

That's not true you don't HAVE TO remove the resonators and I believe the O2 sensor is right after the exhaust manifold (near the engine) so you wouldn't mess with the sensor.

its already pretty loud with the muffler off.just removing the resonators will make it even louder.theres 2 of them so yea...

here's an update I got from HKS

    "Chris,

The 08 Lancer Hi-Power should be in stock within the next couple of
weeks! The part number is 32003-BM002 and the MSRP will be about $580."

I'm sure you'll find it at a lower price

for fed spec. its manafold, flange, down pipe, flange, o2, cato2, 2 feet of pipe, resonator, cat, flange, axle, muffler.

so basically theres no messin with the o2 sensors. and with out the resonator that bumble bee will be PISSED. (raspiness)

MAn you have really got some tight asses on the warranty there. Its funny that bengie the guy who sold me mine has RRMs SRI and axle back on his. Soooo its really sad that it happens. I guess its each individuals interputation of the warrant( dealership). Im glad the guys at mine are not so tight. Oh and Mitsu is looking into the paint the pitting is happing to his car too.
