I doubt they will let you keep the old one... They will tell you that the actual price is x-the old trade.... Which is what you are actually paying for now....
In other words....they keep the old and you pay less.... But you can try....

Personally, I would request they give you the old Clutch assembly that they removed during the replacement work and have an independent shop do an inspection of it. Let them give you their opinion. If you want, take it to two or three seperate shops on a Saturday and get reports from each shop. That way you have the proof/documentation you need to present a case to Mitsu North America.

yea its by law that they should let you see the part its posted in every shop then you can have an another mechanic inspect it for defect...

and by the way the dealer should loan you a car if the repair would take more than a day...thats how i do it when everytime i bring my car to the dealer for repair...

You can present a case, but its plenty possible to burn out a clutch that time period, You can do it in a day to be honest. And its not nothing to due with how well you can drive a manual. Some clutches are just different.

Ive been driving manuals for years, but I borrowed my buddies sentra and burned out his clutch in about 5 miles. Im definitely not new to manuals, but its a different style of clutch.

At the time it was fairly new, but that beside the point. The point I was trying to make is they arent all the same.

    Wow, you're pretty awesome.

you're right it wasnt 5 miles, it was 1.7, i just mapquested it.

Anyway, i wasnt trying a fight, nor did it warrant your comment. It happened. I mean really, do you honest think ive been waiting for the opportunity to lie about burning out a clutch?

I understand that it's a wearable part but a clutch shouldn't wear out in 12 months or 12k miles.
