Hey guys i am new tot his site. I am a lancer owner for the past 4 month now i been on a different forum finally i decided to register here. I have a 5 sp rally red lancer gts with a couple of mods.

Anyways tot he topic Sunday my clutch blew on the car it being fixed now. I had to go through allot of aggravation with mitsu 1st i have t say it sucks that they dont provide rental car. Anyways they told me clutch is not under a warranty as i soon found out it is for 12 month or 12 miles which ever is first. But i am still paying out of my pocket because it has to defected ( clutch) for the warranty to work. So i opened up a case with MItsu today stating that the clutch was defected. I said it practically impossible to kill a clutch in 4 month plus i am not new to manuals.

My question is do you guys think my clutch is defected or did i in some impossible way actually blew my clutch?

I have a 5speed and I have driven it hard!!! Done some runs on the strip, a few events of autocross and my clutch is working fine. I have had mine for almost a year w/22k on it. The same goes for another friend of mine and he drives his car harder than mines and it still working properly. That is good you made a claim with mitsu

How long did you break your car in?

What can i have to back me up stating it was a defected clutch because knowing Mitsubishi they will say it was my fault

not saying it is your fault but i have a friend that burnt out his clutch the first day he got it on his brand new dodge stratus RT...so it can happen...and FYI it was his fault

I've canyon-run'd a bunch of times already and so far the clutch is sticking nicely. No complaints. im at about 12k miles.

that's shitty you don't have solid-proof. too bad we couldnt all electronically sign a "petition" for you stating X amount of members have NO clutch issues at all.

There's at least 3-4 in this thread alone already.

break-in? I drove it hard as soon as I took it off the lot. I was so use to driving my other car hard, it was just normal to me. I personally think, you have a defective clutch. even with a rebuilt clutch, it would take longer to "break it"

Yes i understand i can be my fault to i drove my car hard since the beginning that why i am doubting myself a little maybe it because i didn't break it in will see what Mitsubishi will say

    i’m a little confused on the 12month or 12,000mile thing…
i thought our engine and transmission are covered under the 10 year powertrain warranty
wtf…someone wanna clear this up for me? lol

if they are making you pay for a new clutch demand the old one and bring the assy. to a third party with standard trans knowledge to get the facts
    on what failed

on my first stick it took two years for me to blow it

It's only a 12 mo warranty on the clutch? That blows! So much for "the best warranty in the business".

how do you figure? Its a wearable part, just like your brakes. Im surprised they cover it at all.
