I did my first 100+ mile trip today to the Santa Monica pier.

Anyway, on the way back i was stuck in LA traffic ( ) and i would gently gas it in first til about 3-4000 RPM and i would see the traffic slow down again so i would hit the clutch and pull it back into neutural and instead of coming down gradually, it would stay stuck in about 3000RPM and not move...
i could hear my enguine rev'ed but my feet were off any pedals i'd hit the breaks and i would slow down and come to a complete stop..
and it would still stay 3000rpm

i would then hit the clutch and put it into first and it would kind of scratch as if i were putting it into gear without stepping on the clutch all the way, then once it was in first i'd release the clutch and give it some gas and it would drop back to 1-2000 RPM

it did this about four times on the way back. just thought it was pretty weird seeing as how my car only has 360 miles on it.

Maybe it can be the engine breaking in?

Anyone have any similiar problem with their 9g's?

I have exactly the same problem with mine. Supposedly theres no fix for this yet. Their waiting to release an update for the ecu.

they say its extra gas that hasnt been burnt out yet,its a way to save gas.

yah that can make sense. your going from full rev to basically nutral (sp). so to get rid of the extra gas the ECU burns it off. that bout it?

so to counter i just gotta throw it into 2nd for alittle bit then take it back to neutural?

i have a mustang automatic, and my car does that sometimes to, but usually when my overdrive is off and i have a quater tank or less. it revs up as i press the pedal to accelerate and i stay in a rev while i drive till it shifts into gear, maybe its not the same thing idk, mybe its slipping a gear or something?

ive got about 11000 miles on my car,had it since the first of april last year and it does idle a little high sometimes, not as noticeable but usually what i do is when it is idling high like at 2k and even at about 1200rpm,i just leave it in first and just sort of feather the clutch to help the idle go down with out really moving the car not even an inch.

Well i figured out how to make it go down
I take it out of gear and its still idle'd high so i put it back into first and begin to release the clutch enough to let it grab the gear and it drops back to 1500RPM or so

"The response was a Mitsubishi technical bulletin issued for 2008-on Lancers with manual transmissions titled, “Slow Return of Engine RPM to Idleâ€Â. The bulletin states that, “Customers with a spirited driving style may notice a slight delay in the engine returning to idle when they come to a stop.†This is to “prevent damage to the catalytic converter due to the normal mixture associated with higher RPM driving.â€Â
