Hey guys...i bought what is supposed to be a rrm sri from a guy on another forum. He had it on his GTS and said he decided to go with a drop in instead. The sri was painted blue from the mfg when he got it, and he painted it red. He said it was from RRM....but the RRM website says they are powdercoated red, and this one was originally blue from mfg. Anyway, i got it...put it on..it fit fine, took it for a test drive and HATED the sound. Not sure if it sounded like everyone elses SRI or not. I had one on my last two vehicles, both were v-6 engines and i loved the sound on them...this sounds loud and to me made the car sounds like a piece of crap. I noticed NO difference in performance, which i thought was odd, because on my other two vehicles i noticed a difference right away when i installed them. So, I am not sure what brand i have bought...or why i didnt notice any difference. Anyone have any thoughts? Am i just getting old and dont like the noise? I put the stock airbox back on and was thinking about getting a K&N drop in for it.....Does the CAI and the SRI both sound the same? Do different brands of SRI sound different? I appreciate any help and thoughts you guys have.

Firstly, post a pic of the Shorty. I know that RRM had silver, and red Shorty's but not too sure about Blue.

If you have doubts about the product you can show us.

As far as performance if you didnt notice a slight increase (at least) in responsivness i would say your shorty filter is either really dirty, or the thing may not be installed right. With this little grocery-getter Engine you won't see a HUGE gain from the shorty but you should notice the car responds better to the gas peddle being pressed

You DID NOT buy an RRM intake. You bought a fake one that are posted on ebay.

It sounds loud because the filter is sitting right next to the firewall. In typical vehicles the intake is routed to the front so its not as loud. With the intake you maybe gained 2 whp. Sorry, but you are not going to "feel" that. Not even with a butt-dyno.

And right on top of the header... sucking the hottest air in the engine bay... i honestly dont understand why this people develop crap like this... all the "SRI" developed for are cars do the same crap, defeating the purpose of a REAL sri and making it not worth it at all... money wise and performance wise...

and if its done just for the ricey purpose of just the sound, then good job sacrificing performance for appearance ;)

i agree that the sri is probably not going to give me the boost i was hoping. i have been reading in a couple of other forums and there are people there that do have the blue RRM sri.....supposedly they originally came out either silver or blue before going to the red color....i probably should call RRM and verify that for sure. I really appreciate everyones help with this.

Hmm, strange. I have been on the boards since July when I bought my car. So I have been around before RRM even released the SRI. I don't recall ever seeing blue ones except the guy that copy them and sold them on ebay. I'm probably wrong and have been lookin with my women eyes.

soooo.....the conclusion is.....? Did the original poster call Road-Race?

That would SUCK if the guy told you it was RRM and it wasn't.

well...honestly mine was an aem sri from my 06 lancer...what i did was i cut off what i needed to make it fit my 08 and made and extra metal bar (i forgot what it was called) to hold the tube in place...and got some good respond, sound and performance from it and top it off with an exhaust...

    HEy Rob,
I was wondering if you could do me a favor... I recently sold a used
    product of
yours, but people are saying that its a ebay rip off... I was wondering
    if you
could send me a copy of my order of your 2008 Lancer sri.

    does this suffice as proof?

    i'd say that's proof.

but if you read his long rant he still didnt think the short-ram was anything to write home about. He musta had super high expectations....

Well the bottom line is that with your RRM SRI or any other SRI, you r not going to get the performance you want out of it, and guys are right about the SRI just being there sittin pretty suckin in fresh warm air. People that dont know much about cars will be impressed because it looks great, but just dont take them for a test drive. PERIOD.

You guys might be surprised about the stock air box vs short ram vs cold air intake we had at the lakebed. Of course there were many other factors, but it might surprise you. Haha.

I really would not call it a "rant"...want upset with the guy who sold me the SRI....just surprised that i didnt feel more of a difference. On my other two vehicles i felt a big difference from the SRI i added to them. Perhaps because they were V6's. I really like my car and not unhappy with the performance per say....would l like more? sure.....had hoped to feel a big difference with the SRI. I big difference in the noise from this SRI compared to the others is probably because on the other two, it was way out front in larger cars than this one. This one sits just on the other side of the firewall, therefore you hear it more. After talking to the guy who sold me the SRI, i believe i am going for the Works drop in too!

i didnt mean to offend you and make you think 'rant' = being a cry-baby.
