Has anyone figured out how to get the Nav system to play DVDs while the car is in motion?

I've seen someone post an electrical schematic in a different forum. I can get it if someone wants to see it.

I've also found that people aren't able to ghost/copy the HD that's behind the screen. Seems as though Mitsu used an entirely proprietary filesystem. No one has been able to read the contents of the drive or event the MBR (if one exists!)

You need to wire a switch onto the hand brake wire. I dont know the colour so i cant help but you need to wire in a switch. :D

but i dont know the type of system that there running but i will find out and if you find the wire from the radio that runs to the hand break and wire in a switch youll be able to view while you drive

That's not true. Because that would mean if you hold the e-brake up, the video should run. What you're describing is something you can do on custom after-market Nav systems.

This is NOT the same thing!! You can't pull the e-brake and watch video.

True but there's gotta be a wiring genius out there who can figure out ar elay to run to be ABLE to do it haha...I think thats what they were meaning here.

you can do it. i know what im doing im MECP so :D. MECP = Mobile Electronics Certified Professional. And all you need to do is wire in a switch from the head unit that runs normally to the e brake. The switch will trick the headunit into thinking that it is on when all it is is a switch. all i need are the diagrams and i can walk you thru it.

what are you talkin about? pullin the e-brake would cause the video to stop playing.

easy concept when the car is put to drive vid goes out. wire it in with e-brake, pull the e-brake vid goes out. your not goin drive with the e-brake pulled so the vid wouldnt go out while driving ... simple?

in any case still need to get a wiring diagram

You need to get yourself a dmm and test the wires. When you find the wire that is running to your hand brake cut it and put in a switch one end to ground and another to that wire. Then you use that switch as your hand brake for the audio system.

What we're trying to say is, unfortunately, the MMCS doesn't use the handbrake to determine if it should show DVD video or not. It is based on the speed (vehicle speed sensor and/or GPS). As you coast to a stop, the video shows, and as you start moving again the video blanks out.

As for the hard drive, I'm have a feeling its just locked per ATA specs (i.e. just like the xbox is locked). I'm planning a 'hacking' session with a friend to discover the unlock code for the drive to read the filesystem... not sure when it'll happen, but it will involve hooking up a logic analyizer to all the IDE data pins and sniffing out the unlock sequence as the MMCS unit initializes.

So did you anyone ever figure this out? I just got my GTS and I checked it out and indeed it is based off of speed. Anyhow did anyone figure it out?

I tried what EkTor posted a long time ago... For me it would only work for about 5-10mins if that.. Then GPS would kick in and pick the car back up and cut off the video... If you unplug the GPS and have the switch you wired in off the video works all day long... But you cant have DVD and GPS at the same time... The e-brake def has nothing to do with our head units...
