HID/DRL?

quick question. I installed HIDs on my car and I noticed that when I drive the car with the headlights in the off position, the HIDs do not turn on. But when I put it in the middle mode (parking lights) they flicker.

I drove with them in the off position for a bit to see if the flicker and I noticed that they just stay off. To my understanding, thats why its a problem with the DRLs, they flicker cause it isn't getting the full 12v.

My question is, will it damage my ballast and lights if I drive with the headlights on the off position? Is it still getting power but not enough to turn them on or make them flicker?

    Yes

From what i hear it does, and this has been posted tons of times just look around. I dont know if it melts the balist though because they are still low heat lights, but if i were you i couldn't afford to chance it.

All i do is keep the light in the on position all the time, that way they do not flicker. Once you turn off the car the lights go out, and when you turn the car back on the power up. This is what I do, it is worthless too me to disable the DRL's! Everyone has talked about this and this is my solution. It is the easiest way to fix the problem.

^^^ I've been doing the same thing, I keep my lights on all the time and they auto shut-off when I turn the car off. The only thing I don't like about doing that is sometimes its hard to see the navi screen cause it dims when you have the headlights in the on position.
