was bored at work so I decided to surf around, for those who ordered the Fujita SRI, just to give you guys a heads up, don't really know if this is true, this is from EvoM, the official thread is.. http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=312984 If you have a CVT, don't bother ordering one of these yet. If you've already ordered it, don't bother installing it when it arrives. I just received my Fujita SRI today after days of anxiously waiting. I tried installing it today, but the brace that holds the intake up does not line up with any supposed bolt on the CVT. I'm guessing the transmission is just under the airbox and obviously the CVT and manual are two different transmissions. I gave Fujita a call and the guy that answered knew what I was going to say as soon as I said I was trying to install on a 2008 Lancer. He said they did prototyping on a manual car, and they've already had complaints from customers with the CVT. He doesn't know what they're going to do about it, but promised they intended to make it right. I'm supposed to email him my info while they figure out what happens next. I got my stock crap all put back on, and I officially wasted a lot of my evening. Hopefully they refund my money, send me a return shipping label, and get me a new intake modified for the CVT for free. (That would somewhat ease my frustration.) I'm assuming they plan to get a CVT in there ASAP. Hopefully it doesn't take them forever to work it out. They don't need to redesign the whole thing...just the brace that keeps the intake from dangling there.
wow. big disappointment for those with CVT and already placed an order. Save your money guys and get a Injen CAI.
the reason I asked if there's any truth to this is coz I don't understand how a big company like Fujita could make a mistake like this anyway, spidey is right, just get the CAI from Injen, which reminds me, crypto, where's my CAI at? hehehe
Why someone would cry over something so little beats me. Like some things it doesn't always come perfect. This is Fujita we're talking about and I'm in no doubt that they stand behind their products and will be giving a full replacement or fix to cvt owners.
They're upset because they have already ordered and received it and it won't fit on their car. I'm sure Fujita will stand behind it however they didn't see if it would fit onto a CVT which now makes those same people you said were crying over it wait even longer.
If they want it that bad, the intake itself is 100% usuable. It just requires a little extra 2in bracket that I'm sure you can readily find at home or at home depot for like a dollar. Other than that, there is no difference. It's not like the whole intake does not fit and everything is in the wrong place. If you don't like it, get a refund minus shipping, and most likely you will have to pay out of your pocket to ship it back.
Damnit my shit was already shipped out yesturday. I guess i wont even bother opening the box. Thanks for this though man its a great headsup for me!
for the guys who said just get your money back and buy the injen cold air...i do believe once again you run into another problem with the cvt...being as we have a tranny cooler in the way (that manuals do not) and unless your going to move the tranny cooler it wount work...and for someone who wont make a slight mounting problem work will mostlikely never want to move a transmission cooler...just my opinion..but if im wrong about the tranny cooler please correct me..
I talked to nick from the place i bought my intake and he said only issue that i would have with cvt is easy to fix by just buying a l bracket and thats it. He sais everything else should just bolt on. And the way i see it this intake is so much sexier looking than the RRM so its worth the extra $3 since its already on its way here.
BS!!! For what they charge for it, it should bolt directly up WITHOUT me having to buy or mod anything. It would be a different story if it were a $50 intake off eBay.
the way i see it the fujita one has a great finish to it so its worth the money. To fix the problem all you need is a new bracket. Either fujita could send you something or you can make your own. Im sure there is a spare bolt where the old air box was mounted or something like that that you could use to mount a support bracket. Then you just need some metal or a pre-made braket from the local hardware store. Problem solved. Even if it takes some work to make the bracket the fujita one still looks the best. I remember with my last car they never came with brackets or anything, you had to make your own no matter what brand you bought. It only takes 5 mins to go down to the hardware store and pick up a $2 bracket and go home and fit it. It really isnt that hard.
This debate can go on forever. There's two things to do if you already placed order. 1. If you seriously can't spend like a dollar on a bracket to fix, get a refund minus shipping usually. Might have to even pay to ship it back. You can spend 160 on it, but wont spend a dollar to fix it. Yet, waste like 10 dollars in shipping cost. :confused4: 2. Buy or you can probably find a fix for it in your garage. You basically just need some type of right angle mount that is about 3inx2in. Think something like a door hinge. Again, this is Fujita, I'm sure you will get a full replacement, full fix, or full solution for it if you are a cvt owner. Crying over it beats me.
+1001010110 SeRious08 how can any company just make one design for one model when they knew there is 2 types??
THIS IS NICK FROM RMS-DIST I HAVE SOLD A FEW GUYS ON HERE THE FUJITA SRI FOR THE 08'S. NEITHER FUJITA OR INJEN DESIGNED THESE AROUND THAT MODEL (CVT). I HAVE FITMENT ISSUES WITH THE INJEN THAT HAVE BEEN MORE COMPLEX AND HAVING TO EXPLAIN TO CUSTOMERS OVER THE PHONE IS HARDER THAN YOU CAN THINK. WITH THE FUJITA ALL THAT IS NEED TO MAKE THIS INTAKE WORK, IS A BRAKET SO ITS NOT FLOPPING AROUND IS A SMALL (L) BRACKET. WITH THAT INSTALLED YOUR INTAKE WONT BE FLOPPING AROUND HITTING EVERYTHING. ITS AN EASY FIX. WE WILL BE TAKING PICS ON HOW THESE INSTALL AND I WILL POST UP ON HERE THE PROCEDURES WITH PICS. ALSO ALL INTAKES FOR THE 08'S I WILL INCLUDE THAT BRACKET FOR NO CHARGE. IF ANY ONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS ON THESE INTAKE'S OR FITMENT PLEASE HIT ME UP WE ARE THE LARGEST FUJITA DEALER IN THE WORLD AND TRUST ME THEIR PRODUCT BY FAR IS THE BEST. I WILL MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOUR PRODUCT. THANKS, NICK
