hey fella, i know some of you have toying with the idea of changing to original HID w/AFS. Good news is , somebody has done it, and its as easy as "plug n play" cost to buy one complete set (a pair) is abt 2.8KSIN, approx 2K USD. check out this forum in Singapore !! under technical stuff, thread "Technical Stuff - Conversion of EX to projector HID " http://forums.delphiforums.com/lancerforums/messages/?start=Start+Reading+>>
cut and paste "Dear bros, just wanna share a piece of good news. I got my original factory projector HID lights fitted up! Direct plug and play, no modifications required. Seems that all the EX models come standard with 12 wires from the ECU to the headlamp, including the 1.5 elegance!!! Went to enquire at C&C about availability, the silly workshop advisor tried to tell me its impossible, throwing me cheem cheem technical terms like wiring hardness etc (He didn't know I am an engineer by training and I knew he was bullsh**ting me but I was polite, said thanks and left). Tried hunting around, found a pair, went down, bought it and thought I'd take the risk lah... at most put it on the shelf to admire. No one knows how to modify it, asked around many workshops so I decided to DIY. Researched the web and found a way to remove the bumper. So I proceeded to strip the bumper (Very easy job, all snap fit, with only 8 screws here and there) and did the job within half and hour. Switched on the lights and a pair of beautiful bluish HID projectors was staring at me, and I was probably grinning from ear to ear... kekeke The entire set up is very advanced, the HID ballast is integrated onto the bottom edge fo the unit, the high beam is activated via a solenoid, which gives you a xenon high beam (damn cool when you want to piss people off the road, kekeke). All the AFS features are intact, just that you'll need a switch to tell the ECU to "on" the AFS, working on that, will keep all posted. The headlamp angle can be adjusted by means of a simple rheostat. Anyway, I thought it is a good price to pay for HID lamps that are legal. In fact, according to LTA, as long as the lamps bear original SAE markings and are certified to be exact fit on the particular chansis and fitted with no wiring modifications, it is no longer illegal. I mean, even white ants also cannot tell whether its a 1.5 or 2.0 also... kekeke Anyway, for those bros who are interested, I've attached some pictures. Damage to wallet.... hold your breath... $2.8k a pair... Lolz... I know, there are probably a hundred of you calling me dumbo under your breath... price of lamps: $2.8k , challenging the odds and succeeding: Priceless! How's that? *wink* (FYI, C&C Quoted me $3.6k a pair before GST before discount!!!)"
I'm kind of upset that the ex is basically a GTS with Xenon headlights. Must be a way to get em for cheaper.
ya hopefully the aftermarket (DEP, they make some good lights) will get ahold of this and will hopefully be cheaper

mr and evo should have these too right? might have to wait for a few of em to crash (preferrably rear ended)....not in a mean bad spirited way...but just so I can cop the lights. lol.
hehehehe, hopefully nobody gets hurt though huh? and the car isn't driveable anymore, pure evil!!!
HOLY CRAP! 2k?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? jeez, with that money i can make my car an 8 second car eeeeasy
OK I HAVE AN IDEA!! how come someone hasnt hooked up there HID's to a custom switch? so that way they can just remove the the old bulbs and wrap them or something so they dont get wet?!?! that way you dont have to bypass the DRL's and cut anything? And if u plug and play you dont have to deal with the flickering! COULD THAT WORK??? i dont want to void the warranty by cutting wires.
