Just picked up a 2003 ES and noticed that it overheats when I park and let it idle. It only has 95,000 miles on it. It sat for about a year or so. It also needs the valve cover gasket but other than that I haven't seen anything else. Any suggestions on why its overheating? It doesn't do it at all when driving just when idling.
Sounds like an issue with the water pump. Change your coolant maybe. You said it sat for a year. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Could be water pump as Jogen said....but also look into the fan relay controller (black box on the driver side fan). There was a big recall for some in late 04/05. That was my issue...driving, it was fine, but when sitting in traffic or idling it would heat up fairly quickly. If I remember right, if you turn on the AC or defroster...listen for the fan to turn on and off rapidly. If the car comes to temp and continues to rise without the fan kicking on around 200 degrees...that would be the first thing I replace. I think it runs about 80 bucks new from Mitsu, and is a simple one plug/two bolt removal and install. Fan controller OEM part number: 1355A053 Recall notice number: C0409Z
