Coilovers? springs? can't make up my mind!

So i've been reading through as many threads as possible to gather as much information needed but i still find myself in the middle of the two.
I want to lower my car, i changed the stock rims and tires with 18 inch rims and the tires aren't low profile they're 225/45 (r18 or course)
My car is sitting on my parking spot and it lookins like a monster truck, so i want to lower it. i've been thinking about gettin coilovers (megan) to lower it so that when winter rolls by, i'm able to adjust it back up if need be (my neighboorhood pilles up wayyy too much snow). So i want to lower the car, but i also want to be able to drive in the snow since this is my daily driver.

Now i've been researching a lot and a lot of people recommend to just get lowering springs instead, so i looked into it, and if i were to do that i'd be going with the eibach's. Now my biggest concerns are that when i put these springs i might not be able to get through the snow and the i would need to replace the shocks later on therefor pushing the lines of my budget.

I've got the brands figured out for both options. I just need some questions answeared.
    1. for a DAILY DRIVEN car, specially our Lancers (08+), woul you recommend to get the coil overs or lowering springs to lower the vehicle? ( and if you find yourself asking what i care about more performance or looks for this vehicle i'm going to go with looks)

    2. If i do get the coil overs, how easy or annoying is it to change the ride height? (i would be changing the ride height before every winter and once winter ends i'll drop it back again, every year)

    3. Thought lowering springs are a lot more economic at first, what would be an average time/ mileage until i have to replace the stock shocks? or would i need to buy new shocks with the springs?

    4. any other experience you've had with the lowering of the 08+ lancers would be greatly appreciated. (remember this is a daily driver :p )

Oh man, I've touched this topic a few times. Coils vs springs. From what I have read eibachs are ffreaking awesome springs. Since your car came with 16s and you upgraded to 18s the eibachs will basically lower it back to stock height. I think you get 1.8 inch drop all around where as you added 2 inches to the wheel diameter and maybe a quarter inch to the wheels. Im sure you can do the math. with eibachs on you basically gain about half and inch in actual hieght and kept the comfort so so with the car. I wouldn't drive aggressively since you are still using stock struts.

On to struts/springs combo...gonna make it short and sweet. If your gonna pay that much save a couple of hundred more and get coils.

Coils: easy to install with the exception of the screws being torqued down for the front lower half. Adjusting the ride height is easy. Once you've installed coils you basically know how to remove struts etc from your car. To adjust the height in megans its as simple as screwing 2 things at the bottom of each strut. The bottom nut and the actual part that connects to the control arm knuckle. Once you put the coils on. Drive around for a few days to let the suspension sit right. But beware you will be lower than hell and possibly scrapping your inner fender wall lining. After those few days adjust those same 2 things to make it higher so it wont destroy that inner lining. 3 days later go get an alignment.

With all options you NEED an alignment.

Over all I like the coilovers option the best cuz its a time and money saver. Oh also with the megans you can adjust the dampning force ie. How soft or hard it rides.

yea the reason why i'm not sure about the lowering springs is because when winter comes around and it begins snowing, i'm taking out my current 18 inch wheels and putting in my 16 inch rims with snow tires already on them, so when winter comes around i would be adding 2 more inches to whatever drop i currently have, that's what worries me, that with the 2+ inches i might have trouble in the snow and not be able to fix it if i do have springs.
i'm really tempted by the coil overs, have been for a while, it's just the possible camber that worries me and the difficulty of adjusting it. also it doesn't help that my friend at work keeps bugging me to get the eibach springs because it's cheaper lol.
thanks for the input though jogen

When you get an alignment they will adjust the camber for you. Its apart of the alignment process.

Its really up in the air this discussion goes on constantly on every forum and as Marcus as stated hes spoken about multiple times. From my experience i myself just cant put coils on a DD. Iv driven several cars with Coils and then compared them with my lowering springs and its just feels like over kill to me unless i was going to be taking my ride to the track on a daily basis. You really just have to go with whats best for your ride and your daily lifestyle of driving. I know a lot of people who have dropped the money for coils only to turn around and sell them a month later and get lowering springs. Just think about what you want to do carefully remember "do it once, do it right, dont back track"

ugh i'm just worried if i do get springs and shocks, the shocks might not last as long as i would like.

seriously you know how long its going to take for them to go bad? I bet you end up trading the car in long before that even happens. Even you do keep your car by time they wear out you will probably need to have other services done anyway plus shocks are not that expensive.

Iv been lowered for 3 years and everytime i rotate my tires i check my suspension and its completely fine. The shocks are not going to wear out in like a year. I know people who have been lowered on springs for 5 to 6 years with minimal ware and tear on their shocks. Again everyone has to do whats best for them i just feel coils are a over kill for a DD.

Lol. They are overkill. Its really only worth it for the adjustability in height for winter time.

Hmmm that's something to consider, however if I wanna go lower than the springs I'd like coils. We'll see.

COILOVERS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO. ENOUGH SAID. SMH. LOL. EITHER STANCE or TEIN w/ EDFC

There's not that big of a difference between springs and coilovers.
    1. You can't adjust springs
    2. Same performance as coilovers

HMU IF YOU WANNA KNOW MORE INFO. I KNOW TOO MUCH!!! ;))

    MEGAN blows. (literally). Lmao!
    Gotta pay to play bro…
Go with STANCE OR TEIN w/ EDFC

I sadly disagree bro. "LOW AND SLOW" is the new thing in the tuning world. Google "WEKFEST CHICAGO".

    Low and Slow:
It's all about the camber, offset, wheels, lowest car possible. Then again, these are project cars with hellaflush+ adjustments. iLL sh*t bro!
