Well I went to the movies to see SAW 4 with some friends ( good movie by the way) anyways.. its about 50 degress and cold as hell out side at night time over here in ATL... the movie is over I go to start my car... and i turned the key and it sounded like it was trying to start but didnt... kinda like an old car... and then I tried it again.. same thing.. 3rd time it finally came on... whats the prob? should I worry about it? Could it have happend since it was cold outside? I read the forums already.. ppl were saying to keep my car key seperate from my other keys and ive always done that.. ive never had this prob before... soooo what do i do? and should I be worried?

ive never had a problem starting my car in 40 degree weather so im not sure it would be that

you should get it checked from your dealer

i just realized... could this be the prob... I was running very low on gas... im talking like really low as in the fuel light was constantly lit up so I went to a gas station and put 2 dollars in my tank just so i could make it to QT about 2 miles from where I was cause I had a QT gas card.. so by letting my car run that low on gas couldnt that make it fail to start because of all the gunk n mudd and everything else thats on the bottom of our tanks? some air could have gotten in, right?

well if its like that and it was cold cold the only thing i can think of is u got some watered down gas and since it was old the water might have froze in ur cylinders and mayb tha engine wouldnt turn over cuz of that or ur engine was flooded which is realy rare n ur spark plugs wouldnt spark could be alotta things if it happens again u should be worried and take precaution just in case

Big Steve I would say you have a bit of air lock there. Are you still having starting issues after the fill? I f so goto the dealer and have them vent your fuel pump. The reason if you continue to start without fuel as the ciooling medium you can burn out the fuel pump.

something like this has happened to me before, i do not remember if i was on almost empty nor what type of gas i was running, but this also was in summer time, i inserted the key in ignition, then i turn the key, the motor was turning over it just would not start, so i tried again and it finally worked the second time.....i know there have been few cases of this happening to new lancers, i have seen a post on evom somewhere about this...just to let u know u are not alone, this happened to me only once and havent happened again..

Hmm I have yet to have any problems starting mine and I drive mine during the peak night time hours as I work the graveyard shift. It's usually coldest outside in the morning when I get off work about 6:00am. Granted I've only had the car 12 days, but just wanted you to know that I've no problems with it (yet).

mine does it too.. 4 times today already. It never used to be this bad, but i always did notice the car had a weak start since day one.

Is your Lancer a GTS? Just because im finding alot of electrical and suspension issues seem to be coming up?? The drifting issue i think is those big ass wheels and the shape of the highways, lol. I have not had any starting or drifting. This morning it was -3 deg. Celcius. Mind you it would also be averages too so many more GTS compaired to the ES or DE. I hope you or Mitsu America figures this one out good luck with that.

what electrical or suspension problems are you talking about. I have a GTS and have had no problems with suspension nor electrical. i did have trouble with starting it a few times, but nothing major and i will be going to the dealer to get my ECU re-flashed with the new flash.

Check the threads the GTS has been known to drift to the left. why unknown being investigated.

I've had my gts for 3k miles now and its happened to me 2-3 times already. My gas tank was full or half full and i go to start it and it doesn't. It's happened early in the morn, late at night and mid day after sitting just a few hours.

I think a trip to the dealer is needed.

Went to the Dealership today and got a ECU reflash, starts nice and strong now. The service techs said this is a TSB and has only been out for 2 weeks.

This has happened to my gts as well, once at school and i had a full tank. I got it started after about the third try.

do you have the fast key option?
Because i had a prob with that too. I was stuck at my school for like 3 hours!! because my car couldnt read my fukn fast key. (i didn't know that at the time and thought something was wrong with my car). I was soo pissed because it was like 90 degrees outside and i was just sittin in my car with the ac. I called a tow truck and it took me back home. I found out that it was my key when my mom used the spare she had, and it started just fine.
I just took it to the dealers and thats not the end.

I left my car there for like 2 hours and when i went to pick it up they said that there was nothing wrong w/ the key. turned out they tested the car with both my key and the spare in there at the same time!! Fukn idoits!! i ended up having to leave it there over night and had to drive a '99 camery to school the next day.

o and by the way they just reprogrammed the key and now it works just fine.
