cold air intake system or short ram intake?

lol. I just asked the same question a little bit ago. I ended up buying a SRI off of ebay. at least, it lists it as a SRI but gives a 20HP boost, so I think it may actually be a CAI. if you want the link for it just let me know

 

it all depends on what you want, but for a new lancer, your better off getting a short ram, mainly because they are a lot cheaper and a cai only gives one or 2 more hp and torque difference. but its all up to you

also, 20 hp is a lot, dont expect to see that big of one, when you put an intake on youll hear the difference more than feel one, you may think you can feel a difference but you wont, expect to see around 5 to 10 hp gain

You are not going to gain 20 hp or even 10 from an intake. More along the lines of 4 or 5.

 

Almost nothing transfers to the wheels.

With the newer lancers...for some reason the sri gives better hp gains. You will gain about 7-9 with either of them. This number comes from the power at the crank and not to the wheels. You see about a 20% loss from that going to the wheels. So your looking at around 5-6 hp gain overall with a tune. You can broaden that by getting an exhaust and with a tune you can see up to 15-20 hp gain at the crank so around 12-14 at the wheels. You wont notice any real hp gain without a tune though. But truthfully all that money just to gain that bit is far not worth it to me. and Blueking...if that's not name brand you paid too much. And even then you paid to much for a tube and a filter. LOL maybe im just cheap.

I like the looks of the cai over the sri but thats just me.

i didn't buy it from that website, but that is the intake that i got.

and now i'm not confused anymore...lol this website lists the differences in some of takeda's products. lol just so everyone knows, i'll post em on here.

i think the sri get better gains because of the crazy path the cai makes the air come, however there are sme motors that just run better with sri, like the 90s civic, no one makes cai for them because they are as efficent as a short ram.

 

I got the intake to make the car sound beefy. lol

all i need to make her super awesome is an exhaust, which should be installed within the next year

 

Get a full exhaust if your doing that. As everyone mentioned before. 20 hp is not possible with one bolt on. After intake, exhaust, and header. Three bolt on mods, and you'll net about 15 hp tops. Import Tuner did an article in their most recent issue about their DE that they are modding, and that's a perfect example of what you can expect. They did a dyno even.

 

well, 1st step is the sri, then to make it ultra beefy, you add the exhaust lol

plus it looks a heck of a lot better than the plastic that is chilling there already.
