haha. k i was just checking i kinda knew the right answer anyways lol. no another one i kinda know. what you think coilover’s or just the springs? its like a 1000 difference
For the price of spacers, you can buy springs. Because our OEM struts are not designed for a lower ride height, eventually they will blow--depends on many variables such as road conditions, how you drive, etc. I recommend coilovers. Hands down the best suspension upgrade for better performance in handling. You can also adjust height accordingly.
yea thats what i am goin to do. im just waiting till i got the money like every other person here haha.
id rather get the coil overs. just to be safe. caz its not if you blow a strut its when. lol not to mention you can set it at different heights un-like just using springs.
yeah but if ur like me and only plan on going down about an inch then theres no point in buying coilovers. plus when you get coilovers ur ride becomes not as comfotable to drive
negative if you go with springs that are 1 inch to 1.5 inchs the handling will be better in corners and feel close to stock comfortable
I agree. I have the tein s techs with Monroe and kyb struts and I love how it feels Sent from the Sickest Thunderbolt EVER
Your comfort wont be as comfortable as oem. Same if you get lowering springs. You can make coils come close but it wont be like regular struts. Since oem struts and springs are rated at 4k both front and back. I know my coils on my old lancer are 8k in the front and 6k in the rear. Mine is no where close to oem but my oem was not comfortable to me at all. Its all about you. I've adjusted to my coils now. Buts its all about how your roads conditions are. I like to take my corners tight and quick. I could not achieve that with oem struts and lowering springs. I hate that tip over affect. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
i thought about coils versus springs for quite a bit. coils are very nice but to be honest, we're both working with regular lancers. not ralliarts or evos. it's like putting a ton of money into our cars when that could have gone to a better car overall. the eibach sportlines (which i just got) lower 1.7 in the front and 1.2 in the back which isn't bad BUT yes it will cause more wear on the struts. considering we both live in the northeast and the roads around here are shit, i would suggest learning to drive drunk and avoid pot holes, shallow holes larger than a saucer plate and taking corners a lot smoother no matter which ones you decide. so after all that, i leave you with this, SPRINGS: get low for cheap but sacrifice speed and longevity of your struts. COILOVERS: adjustable right height and stiffness (depending on which ones you get) but a grand more which could get you an intake and an exhaust and still have money for gas for the week. Josh if you have any more questions don't be afraid to ask me on FB. I check that more than i check this.
so what you mean when you get the springs it sacrifices speed? i get the longevity of the struts. but how it affect speed? and are you also goin to come to the meet the 6th?
"I like to take my corners tight and quick. I could not achieve that with oem struts and lowering springs. I hate that tip over affect." that and also possibly rubbing
yes and just so you know hyper after you get springs its deffinatly not hard to just chill on low and then buy new struts later like tokico blues are amazing my buddy rides with them and eibach sportlines and never gets the tip effect and the car rides almost like stock but alot better handling
From what I hear eibachs are pretty fucking awesome. But yea. Its all preference. I chose coils because of the price for my lancer. I could get springs for 200 and get struts for 400. Im at 600 not including shipping so let's say 700 for everything. I got megans coils for 840 shipped. I don't need super expensive coils since I will only hit the track maybe once or twice a year. That's why I chose what I did. Plus I had to get them. I hate va roads. Sent from my DROID2 using Tapatalk
Va roads are a deff FTL. but yeah megan coils are kinda cheap-o tho i would rather have eibach sportlines and tokico strunts and shocks. but yet again everyone is diffrent
