so when i get my income taxes back i am going to spend money on my car for a cold air in take and a Greddy spectrum elite se exhaust. Will these modifications void my warranty on my 09 lancer?

No, I don't believe so. I think it's modifications to the exhaust from the cat forward. I'm not positive, but I know that's how it is for a lot of newer car companies warranties and such. As long as you don't touch the header or cat you're fine. Nor any other major engine mods. Cam, etc.

eBay. I got my exhaust from eBay, and its still lasting. Lol. You can go to exhaust companies websites and deal straight through them.

Just got mine from autocityimports.com I did get a deal I bought the works exhaust. They were discontinued. So they called me and asked if I wanted another one so they cut like $100 off the injen exhaust to make it even.

any single modification you make to the vehicle will void your warranty, including new wheels

I don't think that's right, man. I'm almost positive you can get a cat-back exhaust and still be under warranty. Along with intake.

If the dealer says any modification caused the malfunction, they will refuse warranty work. If someone has new wheels and the control arm snaps for whatever reason, they can deny warranty because the wheels are not stock.

All I am saying is that it is 100% up to the dealer to decide what gets warranted and what doesn't. There is no such thing as "voiding a warranty", only denying warranty work. There is a major difference. This topic has been beat to death and back and at the end of the day it is all up to the dealer. Luckily my dealer is cool with mods. When I still had my 08 PZEV 4b11 I had headers on which removed a cat and at the time threw a CEL, my dealer knew this and the words void never once came out of their mouths. I traded it and got every penny it was worth. Nothing about warranties ever, not during regular maintenance, not during TSB fixes, not when I traded it.

That's true, now that I think about it. If you have an aftermarket intake and they say that the reason that x happened is because of the intake, they can say whatever they want and just not do it. Didn't even think about it like that.

just like EngRWW33 said it depends, for example in my car if i change anything about the my car's engine then my warranty is voided, and even if it you have a warranty from the place you bought the aftermarket parts it only covers the parts itself literally, and if something goes wrong with say your engine, they'll only cover the part you bought itself, and you'll be left alone to worry about your engine.

Ya if anyone remembers the trouble I went through when my MT was slipping out of first they said my intake broke my clutch they finally agreed that that was impossible and than blsmmy shift knob... I had to fight with corporate till they finally approved to cover it if I put the factory knob back on. Because that makes perfect sense. If you fight for it they will get annoyed and most likely give in.

"Yea......your intake broke it. You fail, so leave." "What the hell are you talking about?! How the hell did my INTAKE break my tranny?" "Ummmmmmmm....it just did." "O, ok." Lol. That's how it all went down. I was there.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If something should go wrong and if you can... you should swap the OEM parts back in before you bring it to the dealer.

^ This is a good idea. I've heard a few people do this, and get work done by the dealer under warranty.

It is not because the intake broke the tranny but because they will automaticly think moded car = abused car

You should tell them that intakes get you better mpg as well as long as your driving normal and not haulin tail everywhere. That's why you have an intake.
