whats up everybody. iam lookin into getting a short shifter but i am not sure what kind to get, i want it to b at least 30% shorter though. anybody have any recomendations??
The only 2 companies I know of making short shifters for us are TWMperformance and Works, i have the TWM one.
I have a Works short shifter and the Works polyurethane shifter console bushings. Much shorter and firmer shifting all around. Good upgrade as far as I am concerned.
Also t1r has a short throw...but I'd recommend twm it's a dual bend that angles towards the driver...I don't know anyone that's been disappointed.
Sorry to reawaken a dead thread but I just installed a TWM short shifter on my 2005 Lancer ES today and I figured this was the most appropriate thread to discuss it. I like the height and the shortened throw, but not all is rosy in Lancerland. The shifter works, but it doesn't snap to neutral centered between 3rd and 4th gears like my stock shifter did. If I move the shifter left in neutral, it stays left. Same story for right movements. There's no "spring" to it that centers it after being moved like the stock shifter. I'm curious as to whether or not anyone has the same problem I do. It's definitely possible that I just didn't put it together well. Idk if this is a possible cause, but when I put the aluminum bushings in, the two rearward ones didn't line up exactly with the holes at the base of the plastic shifter assembly box. In fact, they were so far off that I couldn't use the washers that come with the bushings. Any other TWM user want to help me por favor? Now that that's out of the way, I'd just like to say that I love this forum. I've been visiting it for a few weeks but I just decided it was time to join and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
