Whenever it rains, for some reason my engine bay has this loud as squeek. I was told by my boss that it is my serpentine belt. Anyone have anything extra to add? And if you agree with this, do you have a part number for the belt?

its probably just a wet belt. i dont know what belt it would be. but if you only hear it when it rains it happens to a lot of cars. i dont think its that big of a deal, but i could be wrong

I get this too sometimes. Only if I hit kind of a big puddle though. So, that would make sense that it would be the belt. It's really only noticeable when I'm stopped, once I start going it either stops, or is drowned out.

Yea. I avoid all puddles to begin with. Since I put a CAI on it. But I took it out and now im just SRI. But I still avoid puddle. I just hate it cuz its loud as hell and I want it gone.

I just bought the serpentine belt yesterday. I just need the time to put it on and to figure out if its the right one. Dude said it didn't distinguish between dohc and sohc. He also gave me some kind of lubricant that is supposed to give it more friction between the belt and the cranks. I will let you all know on my next afternoon available. Today is gf time....YAY...Going to see The Karate Kid.

Without that job...no income. And it should be the one closest to the ground that's making all the noise. Serpentine belt? Since it has no cover (mine doesn't), I would assume water got into it from when it rained and ran over a big puddle. Im in the process of changing a bunch of stuff now for maintanence. Which reminds me...I really neeeeed to change my battery. Its the same one from 03. Still kicking....im going to say its time is up. changing out on friday. Along with serpentine belt and timing belt. And to get my sides on my evo 7 wing painted. But I will let you know which one is doing all the squeeking. Im gonna do the serpentine friday and the timing on saturday.

FFFFUUUCCCCKKKK!!! I just looked at the install/uninstall guide for this job and I might as well do both of them at the same time. I have to remove the serpentine to get to timing belt. And from what I see this is a bitch of a job. And on top of that I might as well change the clutch. Perfect 3 day weekend. I just hope I don't get called into work to get some part for the technicians cuz then I'm fucked. Although I do have my moms Lincoln Navigator. It's a 5-8 hour install tim. Best bet if you don't know what making the sound is to get both belts and replace them at the same time. And after the install is done find something that can safely cover the serpentine belt so no water can get into it.

dont understand the clutch part... but yeah, it is better to do both accesory belts and timing belt at the same time if you are already doing the timing belt. Trust me, the timing belt on our cars is cake compared to a DOHC V6.... Those are nightmares. Curious tho.. what was the lubricant he sold you to do the belt? i dont know of any material that should be placed on the belt.
BTW.. if you are doing the timing belt and wanted to change over to the RRM Aluminum crank pulley, Now is the time.

oh yeah.. and almost forgot. You may not need to replace the belts on your car if they are sqeaking. Only if they are cracked or damaged. If you look at the belts and see no cracks or ribs missing then it is ok to just increase the tension on the belts.

Yea I had some pretty decent cracking going on with the serpentine belt. And I would like to replace my pulley buuutt, my turbo build comes first. That's more an accessory and not a must. But same could be said for my turbo too.

it is definately your serpentine belts.. my car made the same noises and it ticked me off so much.. just change your two accessory belts and get a good tension on your tensioner
